📌 Overview
This setup was based on a bearish reversal model using:
- M5 IFVG (Inverse Fair Value Gap)
- CISD confirmation
- Failure to continue higher after premium pricing
The trade developed after price expanded aggressively upward, then began showing signs of weakness near the highs.
🧭 Market Context
Before the reversal, gold had been trending bullish throughout the session while respecting the rising trendline.
Price eventually pushed into a premium area and formed a local high near the M5 supply zone (blue box at the top).
However, instead of continuing higher:
- bullish momentum slowed,
- candles became weaker,
- and price started rejecting the highs repeatedly.
That created the first sign that buyers were losing control.
🎯 Trade Bias
The bearish bias formed after:
- price failed to continue higher,
- the M5 IFVG formed,
- and CISD confirmed the shift in short-term order flow.
👉 The expectation became a move back toward sell-side liquidity (SSL) resting below the structure lows.
⚙️ Execution Model
The setup followed this sequence:
👉 Premium Pricing → M5 IFVG → CISD → Expansion Lower
Confirmation used:
- rejection from premium highs,
- bearish displacement,
- CISD structure break,
- inability to reclaim the upper range.
Once price failed to hold above the IFVG area, bearish continuation became more likely.
⏰ Timing & Execution
The reversal developed during the later part of the NY session after the bullish expansion started exhausting.
Instead of chasing the breakout higher, patience was important here.
The cleaner entry came only after:
- market structure weakened,
- displacement occurred,
- and CISD confirmed directional shift.
📍 Entry & Confirmation
Entry confirmation included:
- M5 bearish IFVG,
- CISD confirmation,
- rejection from the upper blue supply area,
- strong bearish candles breaking structure lower.
The move away from the highs showed clear momentum shifting back to sellers.
🚀 Trade Outcome
After confirmation:
- price sold off aggressively,
- broke below short-term support,
- and expanded toward the SSL target area below.
The bearish continuation was clean once structure failed.
🧠 Trade Review
✔ What went well:
- Waited for confirmation instead of anticipating
- Clear CISD confirmation before entry
- Good positioning from premium pricing
- Strong displacement supported the move
⚠️ Improvements:
- Could refine entry further on lower timeframe confirmation
- Partial profits could be secured earlier during impulsive move
🔑 Key Takeaway
This setup reinforced an important concept:
👉 IFVG alone is not enough.
The higher probability move came only after CISD confirmed that order flow had shifted bearish.
The combination of:
- premium pricing,
- failed continuation,
- IFVG,
-
and CISD
created the cleaner reversal opportunity.
📌 Conclusion
This was a clean NY session reversal setup using M5 IFVG and CISD confirmation.
The trade worked because:
- bullish momentum weakened,
- structure shifted,
- and sellers regained control near the highs.
Simple execution, clear confirmation, and patience around structure made the setup cleaner.
