XAUUSD — NY Session IFVG Continuation Buy (29 May 2026)

📌 Overview

This trade was taken during the New York session using a simple continuation model based on:

  • Bullish Break of Structure (BOS)
  • Inverse Fair Value Gap (IFVG)
  • Pullback into the IFVG zone
  • NY session momentum

The setup provided a clean risk-to-reward opportunity with a target of approximately 1:2 RR.

🧭 Market Context

Before the entry, gold established a bullish market structure and printed a clear Break of Structure (BOS).

The BOS indicated that buyers had regained control after the previous pullback, shifting the short-term order flow back to the upside.

Rather than chasing the breakout, I waited for price to retrace into the IFVG zone.

🎯 Trade Idea

The execution model was straightforward:

BOS → IFVG Formation → Pullback → Continuation

Key reasons for the bullish bias:

  • Bullish market structure
  • Clean BOS confirmation
  • IFVG acting as support
  • Strong NY session momentum

The goal was to enter at a discount within the bullish structure and target the next liquidity area above.

⏰ NY Session Timing

The trade developed around the 10:00 AM New York session, a period that often provides increased volatility and directional moves.

This timing aligned well with the bullish continuation narrative and provided the momentum needed for expansion.

📍 Entry & Risk Management

Entry

  • Pullback into the bullish IFVG zone
  • Buyers defended the imbalance area
  • Market respected the structure

Stop Loss

  • Below the IFVG zone
  • Below recent swing support

Take Profit

  • 1:2 Risk-to-Reward
  • Targeting liquidity above recent highs

🚀 Outcome

Price reacted strongly from the IFVG zone and continued higher as expected.

The setup delivered:

✅ Clean entry
✅ Structure confirmation
✅ Strong NY session expansion
✅ 1:2 RR achieved

🧠 Trade Review

What Went Well

  • Waited patiently for retracement
  • Entered from a predefined zone
  • Aligned with market structure
  • Good risk-to-reward profile

Areas to Improve

  • Monitor lower timeframe confirmation for even tighter entries
  • Consider scaling partial profits near intermediate liquidity levels

🔑 Key Takeaway

One of the highest-probability continuation setups occurs when:

BOS + IFVG + NY Session Momentum

Instead of chasing price after a breakout, waiting for the pullback into the imbalance often provides a much better entry with lower risk.

📌 Conclusion

This was a clean NY session continuation trade where bullish structure, IFVG support, and timing aligned perfectly. The pullback offered a low-risk entry and the subsequent expansion delivered a straightforward 1:2 reward.
